Street photography.
|
This is the trailer for a film called everybody street. The film is about photography specifically street photography. looking at every photographers work i liked the majority of all of there photos. Every body street was very informative about all aspects of street photography. The way they moved around the street was described as balletic they were very agile and climbing on objects crouching down all for the bet possible photo. The photographers cameras ranged from pentax film cameras to new SLR cameras. Most Street photographers are interested in capturing movements and gestures of everyday life on the street some were interested in crime and drugs side of street photography and others graffiti. they like capturing images that make sense out of chaos . However there are some risks involved in it at the most extreme even being killed or the risk of becoming part of what your taking photos of especially in the drugs and crime scene.

This image is my favourite out of Jeff Mermelstein. It looks like its a party maybe a total guess but it could be a bar mitzvah as the image all seems to be centered around the boy in the blue suit in the middle. The image is in colour and thats important as because its been blacked out in the back ground you would not pick up half as many details. the images composition makes it look a caotic however it doesnt make it look stress full. the image looks as though its been taken by just another member of the party standing in the crowd with everyone else it looks like your seeing the photo has been taken through the eyes of the photographer. There are some aspects of this photo i am not as keen on espicially the monkeys face in the bottom left corner as i don't think it adds much to the photo that for me is good because its so ordinary it looks like a old family photo really depicts a stereo typical family party. I like how the background is blacked out it really focus's attention in to the center of the picture.
Attempting to take street photography photos in school.
My favourite image is the one of harvey walking under the link as the image image has a variety of aspects to it as at the top of the image it is very detailed and darker and as the image gets lower it becomes lighter and slightly less focused. it would have been even better if the image was completely straight so it would look slightly more cropped. My least favourite image is of harvey putting his face near some poo as it is completely set up and isn't a natural photograph.

Diagonal lines feature a lot in street photography as often there isn't time for people to line up the shot and it makes the shot slightly more abstract and interesting.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST.
There are many similarities between the two photos , first of all they are both black and white and they are both quite close up to the subject. They both seem to be in urban areas and are both street photographs. Both photos are also about looking in one you are being looked at and the other looking at the mirror. Also they are showing how most street photos are taken opportunistically. However there are even more differences between the two in one the subjects are people as the other is an object. As well as that one is much darker than the other and more cropped than the other. Also one is capturing movement as the other is capturing a more still image.
WWW-I think that most of the images fit the description of a street photograph and they quite varied with the amount of movement and how many people are in each shot. They also have a varied range of different lighting and colours i think there was a decent amount of experimentation with different types of images with and with out people some of structures and buildings some are blurred and others focused. My favourite of all of them is the one of the man sat out side the cafe as i think out of all of them that encapsulates the theme of street photography the best.
EBI- I think they could be improved alot as not all of the photos look like particularly street photographs. Aswell as that I think that the images could be improved by having more people and traffic and other examples of everyday street scenes . I think i could thin out the images and select a few of my better quality images i could have also experimented with the images a bit more on photoshop.
